Warm Greetings from one long day in the desert is an evening-length multidisciplinary dance and performance duet by Japanese-American artist Kimiko Tanabe and Moroccan American artist Nora Alami. Through installation, projection, and experimental movement, the performance transforms the theater into a surreal desert landscape, shifting from the terrifyingly solitary to the magically hospitable. Warm Greetings from one long day in the desert blends dance and visual design inviting audiences to reconsider the “Orient” within contemporary American imagination.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Kimiko Tanabe is a fourth generation Japanese-American experimental dance artist moving through the social, cultural, and political landscape of post-internment Japanese-America. She is currently the 2025-2026 Trisk Fellow along with Nora Alami at Triskelion Arts and 2026 Chocolate Factory Artist in Residence.

Nora Alami is a Moroccan American experimental dance artist. Dance is her tool for conducting research, building community, and organizing politically. Her artistry experiments with desire and disparate realities through embodiment, writing, performance, and materiality. She is the 2025-2026 Trisk Fellow with Kimiko Tanabe at Triskelion Arts and a PhD candidate in Performance Studies.
