Resident Artist Programs
Our Resident Artist Programming is a pivotal platform for fueling the creative exploration and expression of our community of artists. Our residency initiatives are designed to provide a comprehensive range of support and a diverse set of services. These resources are thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of various creative processes and the individual requirements of each artist we proudly accommodate. This programming is made possible through the generous support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
Each year, we facilitate four distinct residencies, which serve as a testament to our unwavering commitment to nurturing artistic expression and fostering a space where creativity can flourish freely.

Artist-in-Residence
For artists whose creative practice thrives in an immersive studio environment, our Artist-in-Residence program offers the time, space, and support to bring a new evening-length work to the stage. Over a six-month period, artists receive 150 hours of rehearsal space to delve deeply into a project already in process, culminating in a three-night performance run in our theater.
Throughout the residency, Trisk’s technical, administrative, and marketing teams provide collaborative guidance to ensure the work is fully realized in performance. This residency is designed for artists who benefit from sustained rehearsal time and a flexible structure that supports their individual schedule and creative process. Artists also receive a stipend, box office split, and production support tailored to the needs of their work.

Production Residency
The Production Residency is thoughtfully designed for artists whose creative process heavily relies on theatrical design elements such as lighting, set, and sound. This unique residency program is structured to provide artists with concentrated weeks of hands-on work within the theater, collaborating closely with our technical and design teams to breathe life into their artistic vision. The initial phase of the residency, which includes intensive technical rehearsals, unfolds at least six months before the residency's ultimate culmination—an exciting and transformative performance series in our theater. Unlike conventional approaches where artists conceptualize technical elements in the rehearsal studio without the theatrical equipment, this residency guarantees artists dedicated time to seamlessly translate their creative concepts into reality within the dynamic environment of the theater. The journey concludes with a compelling three-performance series that showcases the work they made during their residency, offering audiences an immersive and unforgettable experience.

Research Residency
The Research Residency offers an immersive studio environment for artists to explore their process without the expectation of a performance outcome. Designed for those looking to deepen or expand their current practice, the residency provides time, space, and resources to support focused exploration. Artists are encouraged to follow their curiosity, take creative risks, and work in a way that honors their unique rhythms. With flexible scheduling and access to in-house support, the residency can be shaped to meet the needs of each artist’s evolving process.

Trisk Fellowship
The Trisk Fellowship is the cornerstone of our residency programs. This prestigious fellowship grants an artist an entire year to fully explore their creative vision, offering sponsored studio access and substantial financial support. Fellows receive extensive technical and theatrical design support and have opportunities for showings and open rehearsals, fostering community engagement and behind-the-scenes access.
At the conclusion of their transformative year, fellows get the chance to share their artistic journey through a performance series in our theater.
The Trisk Fellowship reflects our commitment to nurturing artistic growth by providing time, resources, and support for artists to realize their visions in their most impactful form.
